General Description of Positions:

The purpose of these positions are to dispatch emergency services in response to calls for assistance; responsible for answering emergency services phones, dispatching appropriate emergency service units, maintaining emergency reference materials, maintaining logs and tapes and servicing/maintaining equipment; works independently exercising mental agility and sound judgment in life and death situations requiring an emergency service response.

Minimum Training and Experience:

Requires high school diploma, GED or specialized vocational training.  Must be 21 years of age, not have committed or been convicted of a crime or crimes as specified in 12 NCAD 10B. 0307.  Produce a negative drug screen test result.  Requires over one month and up to and including three months of experience in telecommunications.

Work Hours/Benefits:

These are temporary part time positions Monday through Sunday.  The hours and schedule to work will vary.  County benefits are not available to these positions.

The successful candidate will be subject to a criminal background check.
